Day 21: Taco Monday
It's Monday! Well, it was. Now it's Tuesday (sort of). Again, days don't count until you go to sleep, imo.
Today we got up early to go to Wong's Chinese Restaurant to see if Matthew's water bottle was there. It wasn't, but we got breakfast there. This was revolutionary for me, because I have never thought about it before. People everywhere eat breakfast, but, apart from Mexican food (chilaquiles, pan dulce, tacos mañanitas, etc), I don't really have a frame of reference for breakfast foods.
We went to the CDI and had a meeting to cast vision for the way we're doing English lessons, so that they can keep going when we leave. It went well, and I think that Georgen y Doña Maria will do a great job once we're gone.
We had a CDI session. It went pretty well. It felt like our team was in a zone, getting stuff done and interacting well with the kids. We added movements to the verse they're memorizing, and they seemed to mosty like it. We taught some English and played some games and the kids mostly got along and did pretty well. After our devotional, we partnered 2 kids up with each adult (we had a lot of adults today) and we prayed over them, specifically, by name. It was really lovely.
I worked more than usual with Jeikol today. I helped him with homework, and got to pray over hi and his brother, Jeremy. He's got a good heart, but I'm increasingly worried about his anger and aggressive energy. The anger is a problem, and the aggression will be if it's not channeled properly. Matthew had a great suggestion, of getting him involved in some kind of martial art or something to give him a healthy outlet with some discipline. I hope that's able to happen.
After the CDI, we walked to Esther's apartment and ate tacos with her and Lagos y Ana Raquel. It was a lot of fun to spend time together with the church here and just be people. Everyone here is just really cool. And tacos are just the best. Sheesh.
I got to chat and flirt a little bit with Alexis before she went to bed, which was nice. She posted our engagement photos online today, and said some pretty darn sweet things to me :D
