Day 44-45: Last Day Days
Wednesday was fantastic.
We woke up early and cleaned the house, which is my idea of a good time. My plan was to thank the Diaz-Alvarez family for their kindness and generosity by leaving them a confusingly clean house. Idk if we logramos that goal or not, but it felt nice to clean.
H@ngout was great. We had pizza and played soccer and had great conversations. Wright State came this week and did a fantastic job interacting with the students and sharing good truth. I wore my hat because I had gotten sunburned on Saturday, and, even though he stayed in the shade, Matthew got sunburned pretty hardcore.
After H@ngout, we went with Izzy and Esther to chill at Esther's apartment for about 30 minutes, then headed to our farewell dinner.
The dinner was hosted by a family in the church, and it was a really sweet time. I was concerned at first, because we ended up with all the gringos at one table, and all the ticos and church people at the other. It turned out to be fantastic, however, and we got to spend a lot of sweet time with everyone. Matthew led an extended worship time, and there was some good praying, too. Josh Ortega from Wright State prayed over my future marriage, which I deeply appreciated.
We spent the night at the Diaz-Alvarez house (they are too kind to us), and slept. Don Rodrigo drove us to the airport early. It was just Matthew and I, since Izzy is staying another week to serve at the camp. I think that airport trip was one of my favorite times with Matthew. It felt like we got to joke around a lot and have some good fun.
We sat by a pretty cool guy on our flight back. He was a weird, hippy-vibe, world-traveler kinda bro. He talked about his adventures in Latin America and his job helping sustainable farming ecology something stuff. He told stories about the narcos and banana plantations and companies overthrowing the indigenous peoples and some more information about racism in Costa Rica... it was fascinating. He and Matthew got into some spiritual conversation as well, and Matthew got his number.
Alexis picked us up from the airport and took us to get Chick-fil-a.
PRAYER PLEASE
-for Matthew and I to rest, process, and transition into normal life well
-for Izzy to travel well and for camp stuff to be fantastic
-for the church in Costa Rica, please keep praying for them
-for the Wright State team to have a good next week in Costa Rica

Don Rodrigo sent me this picture and said, "I hope when you get home, that your world isn't upside-down"
