Day 27: A Blur
Today went by super fast, even though it was very long.
I'm writing from the comfort of our Airbnb couch, so we got home from our trip safely (I use "home" in the Heredia sense of the word. My home is currently in College Station. And my Home is in heaven (home is a funny-sounding word)).
I got up early today (6:57) so I could be sure to pack and get breakfast before our 7:40 pickup. Our zip-lining adventure got rained out yesterday, but we got a re-do this morning. I'm really glad we did.
Have you ever heard of a pajaro campana? Or, maybe procnias tricarunculatus? Three-wattled bellbird is the Englishest name. It's a goofy-looking mustachioed kinda birb.
Like, he looks like he wants those darn kids off his lawn. He sounds like a fire alarm.
Anyway, Matthew really wanted to see one, but we kept only hearing them, because they're so loud. But, we got to see one whilst ziplining and I think there's even a picture on Matthew's phone. Apart from that, the actual ziplining was fun too. There was a giant swing, lots of ziplines, and some cool climbing stuff. I was hoping it would feel scarier than it did, like more adrenaliney, but it was perfect.
I really like the feeling of falling. Like, jumping off of something tall is so fun. The rope swing was a little of that, but the rest of the ziplining was kind of a blur for me. Possibly because I was tired, possibly because my glasses flew into the forest on the rope swing.
Afterwards, we got back to our hotel right in time for checkout. I love when timing works out like that. The hotel wifi was down, so I had to walk to a cajero to sacar efectivo pa pagar, but it was good for me to walk some.
We got lunch at a place with good burgers, but by the end of lunch I was literally falling asleep at our table. We went to where the bus would be and then got on the bus (which was very hot). I slept a lot of the drive and worked on my teaching for the rest. It's starting to come together, which feels good. Honestly, I think public speaking gives me the most adrenaline rush of anything. Blech.
We got back home around 7 and started planning our week around 8. I feel good about our plans for this week and the weekend when James comes in! Oh shoot, I forgot to tell the team something for tomorrow.
I took a shower and called Alexis and now I'm typing on the couch. Well, I'm on the couch, typing. I could put some thoughts here about rest and fun vs. work. I could put some thoughts about walking by faith and not by sight. I could put some thoughts about Overflowing. I'm too lazy though. I wanna sleep.
I have Penny & Sparrow songs stuck in my head, mostly from the Tenboom album.
