Day 25: Ooooh / Ewwww

So, yesterday was a lot and today was a lot and I probably won't say all that much about either.

We got up super early today (we stayed at Esther's house) and took a bus to Monteverde, which is like a very green, very foresty mountain kinda place.

We ate some good food and we got to go on a guided night hike. There were a lot of bugs that Matthew and Sheryl really liked. This is the source of the title of this blog. It's probably the most creative part of it, I'm way too tired to be funny. We also saw part of a sleeping sloth (he was a fuzzy bump in a tree) and we saw a toucan butt and some snakes! I mostly just enjoyed that we were walking around in nature at night. I'm not very emotionally invested in nature. I did Colorado LT and was like, "meh, they're cool looking mountains, i guess." I wish it affected me more.

The food here is tourism-expensive, but also really tasty. I'm excited for our hotel breakfast tomorrow. We had some cheesecake and some sandwiches and stuff.

The bus ride up was pretty fun, as far as bus rides go. I got a window seat! There were a lot of gringos and hippy backpacky people on the bus. One lady was doing some kind of handstand yoga at the mid-point stop. I sat in front of a guy named Tanner who was volunteering with some organization, he looked like an American Christian to me. He later told me he was part of Cru in college. There was a guy across from me who didn't speak any Spanish and was very defensive when his seat mate asked him if he would hand him the drink that fell beneath his seat. He thought the guys wanted his backpack, and then thought he wanted his drink. I sat next to a German student who studied Psychology, so I got to talk to her some about what Alexis is studying, and about language. I also got a decent nap in, which was lovely.

Though I made sure to fill up on saldo before we left, my phone has not been doing well with battery here. It died on our walk to the night hike while I was on the phone with Alexis, then it just died again now. Hopefully it does better tomorrow.

PRAYERS PLEASE
-for me as I prepare my Psalm 23 sermon for Friday
-for our team to rest well, have fun, and be a blessing to the church here
-for the H@ngout students this weekend to feel God continuing to draw them near
-for our planning time on Sunday to go well
