Day 23: Today Happened

I'm in danger of getting my days upside down. I was so tired today, but now I'm pretty energized. And Friday we're gonna get up crazy early and stay up late, but with a nap in the middle, so....I may end up re-nocturnalized (Hi Travis! If you're reading this after 3 AM, go to sleep).

Anyway, today was good. I woke up at 8:55, since Lagos & Co were planning to arrive at 9. We made a BONCH of empanadas, but they were empanadas hondureƱas, so...really good. I am not very good at making masa balls (which then get squished in a squisher (also called a "tortilla press" apparently) to make the pan part of the empanada). All of the balls I made were different sizes and generally a little too big, but it was a ton of fun putting them in the squisher.

We went to campus and ate and talked and talked and played with the students. I...napped in the grass while they played Organ Attack (which my sister gifted my parents a while back, really fun game). Once it started to rain though, I woke up and we moved under the covered deck. It rained SO HARD today. There was some of the loudest thunder I can remember hearing. It was so, so fun. I almost went and played in the rain, but I didn't. We almost started a line-dance party, but we didn't. I really enjoy all of the different interactions we get to have with the students at H@ngout; you never know whether you'll have a crazy-deep conversation, or laugh until your face hurts, or just nap in the grass. You can be sure that you'll have good food and be glad you came though. At least, that's our hope for all the students.

Eventually, we came home and did some planning and some preparation for this weekend. I'm excited for the devotional tomorrow and nervous for next Friday still (I need to take some prep time).

Talking to Alexis tonight felt especially sweet. We didn't talk about anything crazy-profound or even, like, flirt extra, lol. We just caught up and spent some time together and it was lovely.

I'm not sure how I ended up being up late still. Maybe it's connected to me planning the devotional or needing to pack, but it'll be ok. I am gonna wrap up now, so I'm less tired with the kids tomorrow.

PRAYERS PLEASE
-for the H@ngout students to feel God's love and call
-for The Well tomorrow on campus to be powerful
-for the CDI time tomorrow to be impactful
-for the church here to be aware of God's movement and leading
-for me to prep well for next Friday
