Day 23: I'm too tired to stay awake to try to do the wordle

Wow, today was a day.

Ok, so I got up today at 7:47, so I could get my 4 miles in before our futbol game with Lagos and the homies. I started my run and immediately knew it was going to be a bad one. I didn't get all 4 miles. I ran 2 and walked 1. Red box day for Sam. My shins were not having it. Also, felt kinda sick to my stomach. But, I did run, so that counts for something. Maybe I should have orange boxes or yellow boxes for days where I just don't hit the mileage.

Anyway, got home, took care of my stomach, got some water. Izzy and I walked back to the park where I had been running to play futbol with Lagos and the homies (Lagos, Erik, Josue, Wendy, Alejandro, Eliezar, Didier).

We got there right on time, like gringos, and after a minute found Erik. He hung out and talked with us about his business plans and how he values relationship and people and long-term success over immediate income. Rather than using machines to make a lot of the things he designs (he is a graphic designer, among other things), he find people with businesses that make them and, even though it costs a little more, gives business to those businesses or people who can do what he needs. Then, he builds relationship with them. It's a cool model.

Lagos showed up, then Josue and Wendy. No one had thought to bring a ball. Then Alejandro came and he did, lol. I bet next week (apparently, this is basically weekly) everyone brings one.

I warned Alejandro that I would be useless, but he said they wouldn't play hard. I didn't believe him. I was correct. It was a lot of fun though.

Around 11, we walked home (harder with my new, post-futbol blisters :D). I got a shower, and Rodrigo came to pick us up (so kind) and take us to their house for lunch. First of all, lunch was crazy good. dang. Also, we had a lot of fun and good conversation with their family. They are really kind and easy to get along with.

After a while, Tannia y Rodrigo's mom suggested we go to a park, so we loaded up and drove to parque Barva, and there....we played monkey in the middle. It was humid. We went hard. I had decided to wear jeans since we were visiting their home. There was a lot of sweating that happened.

It started raining, so we went back to the house and Carlos (he's, like, 8? idk kids' ages) showed me the phone game he's currently into. I was very, very bad at it. He enjoyed that thoroughly. We had hot chocolate and cookies and talked some more. Right around the time we decided to leave, a karaoke machine came out (the events weren't related. we were just socially done), so we chose the perfect time, imo.

We got back home around 6:30, no one was really feeling like dinner after a giant lunch. I got to have a zoom call with Alexis. We talked about the book we're reading and watched an episode of a show. It was really nice to just chill a bit together, even if in different places.

Tomorrow, we start back doing the stuff. I think we'll need to fight to protect a Day Off next week. I'm nervous going into this week with so little down time and needing to work more on my teaching for Friday. Usually, when things make me nervous, I decide not to worry about them. This strategy actually works pretty well for me about 75% of the time. It doesn't work with Conflict, Public Speaking, and some third category that I can't quite place. So, still nervous.

Ok, prayer:

PRAYER
-walk in step with the Spirit
-good team dynamics
-gospel opportunities
-gospel readiness and passion
-my heart engaging well with God
-my  t e a c h i n g
-for God's love to really impact the CDI kids

Pretty sure there's no pictures today, but I'll check anyway.

Nope.
