Day 1b: We made it!

I'm so tired. And it's so worth it to be tired.

Ok, where did I leave you? Airport?

Our plane got delayed by about 35 minutes, which isn't bad...unless your connecting flight takes off 45 minutes after your first flight was originally scheduled to land. Then it's awkward. I napped on the flight and listened to the new Kendrick album. We got to Houston and the people sitting at the front of the plane took  f o r e v e r  to get off the plane. Maybe it just felt that way. We power-walked (I really only ever power-amble though) to the gate for our connecting flight (which was 8 minutes away). We got there, got on the plane, and they closed the door behind us and took off. No problem, but no breathing room. I felt very provided for by God in that.

The flight to Costa Rica was nice. I got a free coke* and sat between a man and woman travelling together. They seemed married, but I couldn't tell. I guess one just really wanted the aisle and one really wanted the window? Idk. It was weird. I napped some more (my neck wasn't a fan) and listened to the Maverick City second Spanish worship album.

We got to Costa Rica! We got through immigration and customs! As we were leaving the airport, about 15 different people offered us taxis. One of our team members (no name included) thought they were asking, "vaccine?" instead of "taxi?" and said yes, so they tried to take her with them, but we said no.

We got picked up by Lagos and Ana Raquel and Gomez and they took us to Duke's, where we ate delicious Texas Barbeque in Costa Rica (lol) and hung out and talked.

We drove to the airbnb after dinner. I rode with Gomez and I student I hadn't met before, named Christopher. He seemed nice, but the conversation was very Spanish and my brain was very done. Our airbnb is quite lovely. I think it will be perfect for us.

There is an hour time difference between Texas and Costa Rica. It's later in Texas than it is here.

*I'm going to try to live this whole summer without drinking soda. So we'll see how that goes. I almost instinctively got coke when we were at Duke's.

This summer is going to be really good, but it will also be stretching for me in a lot of ways. One of those is long-distance dating. I'm assuming you probably already know I'm dating. It's awesome :D
But 10 weeks is a long time. So, lots of depending on God and lots of figuring out how to communicate well. I'll probably give y'all little insights into it.

Tomorrow we'll get groceries and talk about PLANS.

OK! Prayer time:
-for our team to rest well and settle in well tomorrow
-for our planning time tomorrow
-for our team to rely on and walk closely with God
-for good team dynamics
-for Alexis and I to navigate distance well

Isaiah 12:2
The Lord, the Lord himself is my strength and my song. He has become my salvation.
